Aims & Objectives
In this section I will:
Audience
- Explain the target audiences for both films
- Discuss how these films are aimed at these particular audiences
Audience
Let the Right One In
I think that the audience for Let The Right One In could be very varied. The characters are children but the film is definitely not aimed at them. It is a film that could be watched by teenagers, however, as there is a lot of interesting topics that that age group might find interesting. Also teenagers tend to be the people who are watching horror films so it would definitely be aimed at them. However it is a very popular film for adults as well. Horror films can be watched by any adult if it is in their taste and some adults may find the friendship in the story very interesting, so therefore I would say that the audience is both male and female, from ages 15-35. |
Michael
The film Michael has definitely been identified as a film for older viewers, as it is very disturbing, deals with some difficult themes, and is very adult in the speech and visual elements. It is also classed as an 18 certificate, restricting younger viewers to watch it meaning the directer feels the same way about how the film should be shown to its viewers. This can have an effect on the box office as it restricts the amount of people being allowed to come and see it and the specified thriller/horror makes it only appealing to a certain age and audience. However, in this case it is more important to only allow people of a certain age to see it because it is a very difficult film. |
